after taking a break the latter half of 2011 micah returns with a us tour february and march even including two shows in canada ... micah is accompanying the twilight sad on all dates ... micah is also confirming a series of shows at this years sxsw in austin with two official gigs so far and day parties each day ... waiting for full details on these and when i get them check the live page.

ashley says - "Micah had his MRI this morning and it didn't show any problems, which is great but no playing guitar for a while. Doctors are wanting to keep him in hospital for a couple more days ... But as of right now, Micah's saying he wants to finish as many of the remaining shows as he can. He will be singing only with the band backing him."
20 july 2011 : micah has been in a car accident but is okay - barcelona show CANCELLED
i just heard from ashley that the tour vehicle for the spanish shows was involved in an accident tonight ... micah is in hospital and hoping to have more news over the next 12 hours ... the barcelona show has unfortunately had to be cancelled for this reason ... at the moment it looks like the rest of the tour with tachenko should continue as planned but i guess this is all subject to how micah is doing ... apparently the accident occurred after the zaragoza show en route between zaragoza and barca ... micah we wish you well
26 april 2011 : trompe le monde in spain / strings in northern europe / australia
this is what i got in my inbox this morning
micah is back touring spain with his spanish band tachenko during july and for this special tour micah has elected to play the landmark pixies album -trompe le monde- in its entirety ... that record was a huge influence on micah and remains so ... each gig will be a unique experience and im sure your only chance to hear micah tear up those amazing pixies songs with a full band roaring out from behind him ... you wont get to hear this ever again ... rumour has it tachenko can blow the real pixies off the stage these days ... in contrast the shows in mid-may in belgium and holland will feature a string quartet and will run through all of micahs recorded output from the gospel to the pioneer saboteurs by way of his obscure eps and early demos ... these shows are going to go down in history - the quartet sound amazing ... there is also an australian tour booked for end june / start of july awaiting cities and venues ... this has been a long time in the planning and is a direct response to micahs fans in australia petitioning for shows out that way ... i am due to speak to micah again this week - obviously he is working like a brakeman at the moment - and hoping to have some info on his second novel ... and some other projects he is working up ... i can report he is happy and well and heres a photo of ashley from may last year

i had a long conversation with micah last night ... for the first time in quite a while ... as always he has his hands pretty full ... his novel is soon to begin appearing on bookstands across the globe towards the end of the year , starting in europe ... it is set to receive multi-language translation and i can tell you as i read it years ago it is a beautiful and complex work made up of very pure writing ... also and in his own words he recently scored an endorsement deal with , and is happy to announce , and to be playing frantically on , seagull guitars who make the finest parlor acoustics in the world.

it's been such a long time ive almost forgotten how to do this. micah has announced a full spanish tour... and some festivals and other shows along the way, including london and paris, all over spring summer 08. you need to check the live page for details... the new record is still almost done, as these things go. in his own words he describes it as incredible. micah played at the end of the road showcase as part of this years sxsw festival in austin tx just the other day and gave a spellbinding, blistering performance with his new power trio. they have been rehearsing like demons in micahs basement day in and day out... june will see some further uk shows and a festival in ireland, the record will hopefully be out by then.

after a long cold spell on the micah p. hinson front, i heard from him over the weekend. he/s in good shape, and has announced a few uk dates with those crazy old mountain goats... thanks to the great people over at pineapple folk... so far, all i know is the where and the when, and that these are mostly solo shows which to be honest is how the guy often needs to be seen, in the raw. i heard there may be a cellist at one of the shows, unconfirmed. as i hear more i/ll post it, otherwise - be strong... oh yeah, the london show is almost sold out!

news in from micah p. hinson... after having cancelled some recent shows in europe micah has some local gigs lined up in austin dallas and ft. worth over the next few weeks. word is we can expect to see the gig list start to grow again as micah gets his back stronger. it simply hasnt been possible for him to make any long-haul flights over the summer... micah also tells me he has a lot of new material together that is in a reasonable state of completion, both for micah/s next full-length album and his contributions to the amazing and just downright beautiful late cord project... we/re trying to work out the best way of releasing a track or two of some of the new material... who knows.

ive been hearing murmurings of a new record for a while now... not the new ep (a dream of her) but the next full-length micah p. hinson lp and follow up to the opera circuit. micah checked in this evening and tipped me off that he has 17 new songs recorded. hes kitted out his new place in austin with everything he needs to record... studio, booth, trap set, he even has an upright piano and rumour has it that he sawed off part of his kitchen counter to get the thing through into the lounge... Amendments made to some of the live page listings specifically to correct the benicassim date (thanks to the lovely benicassim people), we/re now trying to put together a comprehensive itinerary for the coming months, there are more gigs on the way as soon as we get final confirms.

word. micah is planning a special event in manchester, uk, for early august. a as-yet-undisclosed venue has been provisionally booked over the 7th 8th and 9th august for 3 special performances of micahs first 3 records... the gospel of progress... the baby and the satellite... and the opera circuit. each of the records will be performed in their entirety by the original studio players. these will be rare shows, in a small intimate venue. by then the uk smoking ban will have kicked in, which, while it isnt going to bother me very much as i can take them or leave them, will probably mean an intermission will be required while micah chainsmokes 20 minutes. it is sure to be a beautiful series of gigs...
